Modern Conveniences ventures into unfamiliar territory with the release of Mark Kloud’s Left Stranded EP. Following up his brilliant album from last year, Mark steers the label into murky waters with his signature sound. Understated breaks and bass lay the foundation for a backdrop of filtered synths and textures in “Sedimentary”. “Isonation” and “52.30” are perfect executions of subtlety, distant chords effortlessly weave in and out of minimal drum work. Tension builds in the title track as otherworldly sounds color a desolate landscape punctuated by tribal percussion and echoing voices.
